The Director of Security is responsible for developing and implementing the organization's security strategy, including cloud security and hardware IoT devices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud security platforms such as AWS, Google and Microsoft cloud environments. Embedded Hardware systems as well as IoT protocols such as MQTT, as well as experience in developing and implementing security policies and procedures.

What you’ll own:

In this high-impact role, you will: 

Work closely with IT, Legal, People and our cloud SREs.  You will be responsible for threat hunting, automations, security tooling improvements, disaster recovery, as well as providing guidance on best practices and procedures.  You will work with our embedded systems team to ensure hardware as well as software protocols follow security standards.  You will also assist in code audits and validation checks.  This role reports directly to the VP of Security.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Work with the VP of Security to develop policies and organization's security strategy.
  • Manage the organization's security team and ensure that they have the resources and training they need to be successful
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest security threats and trends
  • Conduct security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements
  • Respond to security incidents and breaches in a timely and effective manner
  • Work with law enforcement and other organizations to investigate security incidents

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Support IT and Cloud services whenever possible.
  • Scripting and coding capabilities for tool development and api integration.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on cloud security and hardware / IoT devices
  • Strong understanding of security threats and trends
  • Experience in developing and implementing security policies and procedures
  • Experience in conducting security audits and assessments
  • Experience in responding to security incidents and breaches
  • Basic (or better) scripting and coding abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
