Your Role at Pura:

We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join our team and be a technical leader in building and scaling Pura's backend systems. As a staff engineer, you'll drive technical excellence across multiple teams, mentor other engineers, and build reliable services used by millions of customers. You'll collaborate with technical and business stakeholders across the organization to deliver robust solutions that directly impact our customers.

This role is ideal for a technically skilled engineer who thrives in a dynamic environment, communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and is eager to make a significant impact on our growing business.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years in backend engineering with demonstrated technical leadership experience
• Strong experience with Golang
• Strong proficiency in additional modern backend languages (Node, Python, or similar)
• Deep experience building and operating high-scale distributed systems
• Proven track record with service oriented architecture and API design
• Experience with event-driven architectures and real-time data processing
• Deep experience with cloud platforms and services (AWS preferred), including architecture, deployment, and optimization
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Deep expertise in relational database design and optimization (PostgreSQL preferred) plus experience with caching technologies (Redis, etc.)
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and performance optimization at scale
• Familiarity with both synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns using APIs, message queues, etc.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical details to stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds
• Strong mentorship skills and ability to elevate the engineering team
• Experience with CI/CD practices and infrastructure as code
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation

Nice to have:

• Experience with IoT systems or connected devices
• Background in e-commerce or consumer products
• Knowledge of supply chain or logistics systems
• Experience with temporal data modeling and event sourcing patterns
